Georgia State University has an intercollegiate athletics program that competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level and as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, Mid-American Conference (Men’s Soccer) and Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (Beach Volleyball).

Georgia State sponsors 16 sports programs, including baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, and tennis, for men, as well as basketball, cross country, golf, beach volleyball, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field and court volleyball for women.

Georgia State abides by all rules and regulations of the NCAA and conferences for all athletics competitions, and student-athletes must meet all admission and eligibility requirements to compete.

Georgia State’s athletics teams, known as the Panthers, compete not only against conference opponents but also against other top-tier conferences around the nation. Georgia State teams and individual student-athletes have gained regional and national athletic recognition for their performances. Additionally, Georgia State’s student-athletes have excelled in the classroom with regional and national honors for their in-classroom achievements. For the last 13 years, the department’s cumulative GPA for all programs has exceeded a 3.0.

Each Georgia State Athletics program has its own home facility (Athletics Facilities) to call home including the former Centennial Olympic Stadium and former Turner Field, which recently became Center Parc Stadium. While Center Parc Stadium is home to the football program, athletics department offices and a few other teams, it also hosts spring graduation for the University and multiple other functions throughout the year.
