AAS 4670 - Education of Blacks in the South

Prerequisites: Either AAS 1140, AAS 1141 , or AAS 1142 ; and AAS 2010  (each with a C or better); and at least 48 undergraduate credit hours.

Description
This course focuses on the history, politics and culture within Education of Black Folk in the American South. This an interdisciplinary investigation of the complexities of the African American experience in American culture that particularly explores important comparative questions about the American education system. In this course we will understand how Africans in America negotiated, disrupted, and transformed popular education.
