This course is an introduction to classical Arabic literature and culture from its beginnings in the fifth century to the thirteenth century C E The course includes selections from the Qur’an as well as texts and poetry representing different literary periodPre-Islamic, Early Islamic, Umayyad, Abbasid, and Hispano-Arabic The course also addresses the scientific and technological developments of the period All readings will be in English translation No knowledge of Arabic is required This is a Critical Thinking Through Writing (CTW) course Global Scholars course.
