Focuses on the reading process and on reading instruction as it relates to the needs of pre/early adolescent students in middle childhood. Major emphases include understanding the factors that affect reading, critical analyses of reading materials and strategies used in the content areas, understanding ways to facilitate students’ learning from texts, and understanding interdisciplinary instruction.
