A savvy female monarch, a burgeoning global empire, and the introduction of printed bookthis course examines one of the greatest and most formative periods in English literary history. Writing focused on and emerged from three principal venuethe church, the court, and the stage. Read works by such authors as Elizabeth I, Thomas More, Philip Sidney, Edmund Spenser, Christopher Marlowe, and William Shakespeare.
