(Same as HIST 3510) Overview of the history of the Medieval Mediterranean World, from the fall of the Roman Empire to the rise of the Atlantic World (500-1500). Topics will include the origins and spread of Islam, cross-cultural contacts around the Mediterranean, the Crusades, and the other examples of Islamic/Christian/Jewish interaction.
