RELS 4300 - Spiritual Care and the Study of Religion

3 Credit Hours
Description
This course explores both spiritual care and the study of religion as practices. It asks what these projects-as particular historical
formations-share in common and how they might inform one another. In doing so, it raises a number of pressing political and ethical questions: about the place of religion in the modern world; about our ability to understand others; and about where we turn to deal with some of life’s fundamental challenges (for
example, pain, loss, and death). This is a class for anyone interested in health professions, chaplaincy, and social work in
addition to students of religion.
