MATH 4285 - Mathematical Fluid Dynamics

3 Credit Hours
Prerequisites: A grade of C or higher in Math 2652, Math 3350, and Math 4265.
Description
This course focuses on the basic ideas of fluid dynamics, with an emphasis on rigorous treatment of fundamentals and the mathematical developments and issues. It explores the background and motivation for recent mathematical and numerical work on the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations, and presents a mathematically intensive investigation of various model equations of fluid dynamics, potential flow, theory of boundary layers and lubrication theory.
