ANTH 4400 - Anthropology of Tourism

Prerequisites: ANTH 2020  with a C or higher or permission of instructor.
Description
Developing hand in hand with globalization, the tourist industry has exponentially increased its capacity to move large numbers of people across the world even as the economy of leisure has intensified the pursuit of new experiences. The purpose of this course is to lead students in the exploration of the cultural and social dynamics underlying tourism in contemporary societies. Course topics will include the tourist experience; labor relations in the tourist industry; and tourist consumption. Global Scholars course.
