3 Credit Hours
Description
Why does the world need business? Why do some succeed and others fail? What value do non-governmental organizations, not-for-profits, non-profits, and social entrepreneurship add? And what value do you bring as an employee, manager, professional, or entrepreneur? Find out in this hands-on course which introduces students to the basics of business. Students will explore the role of markets in society, how firms operate in a global, market economy, and the environmental forces that affect them. Students will investigate the different functions within the firm and how those functions work in an integrated manner to create value. Students will also enhance their professional image as they hone their elevator pitches, refine their resumes, and polish their social network profiles.
