Description
The course discusses the historical growth and development of U.S. cities and metropolitan areas from the pre-industrial era through to the twenty-first century.. It will then explore a set of key, contemporary debates â€” all in the context of cities and the urban – in the realm of social and economic justice, environmental sustainability, and closely related topics. The course will employ classroom discussion, visits by scholars, practitioners, and advocates, and other means to explore these topics.
