The academic pathway in journalism at Perimeter College is the activity of gathering, assessing, creating and presenting news and information in a variety of ways.
Studying journalism allows students to become leaders in the new age of instant communication and connectivity. They can examine and analyze forms of mass media, while opening doors to a spectrum of careers from advertising and broadcasting to public relations and publishing.

Field of Study: Courses Appropriate to the Pathway (18 Credit Hours)
- See “World Language Requirement for B.A. and B.I.S. degrees ”.
- Students must have a 2.5 grade-point average in the JOUR courses within the Field of Study indicated (*) to be eligible for the B.A. in Journalism at Georgia State University-Atlanta and to take 3000- and 4000-level JOUR courses. (See Major Eligibility Requirements .)
- Students interested in pursuing the B.A. in Journalism must take SCOM 2300 or World Language at the 2001 or 2002 level.
World Language Requirements
- World Language at the 1002 level or higher 3 Credit Hours
