Degree Requirements
Requirements for the undergraduate core curriculum are listed in the “IMPACTS Core Curriculum Requirements” in the Georgia State University undergraduate catalog. School of Public Health academic regulations are noted below each area here:
Core IMPACTS (42 Credit Hours)

- Institutional Policy (4 Credit Hours)
- Mathematics & Quantitative Skills (3-4 Credit Hours)
- Political Sciences and U.S. History (6 Credit Hours)
- Arts, Humanities & Ethics (6 Credit Hours)
- Communicating in Writing (6 Credit Hours)
- Technology, Mathematics, & Sciences (11 Credit Hours)
- Social Sciences (6 Credit Hours)
Public Health Lower Division Major Requirements (18 Credit Hours)
Students must also complete each of the following Lower Division Major Requirements courses with a grade of “C” (2.0) or higher. Transfer students who transfer courses from this area into Georgia State University may use their grades from their transfer courses or they may attempt the courses at Georgia State.
Additional Quantitative Methods Course (0-3 Hours)
If Mathematics and Quantitative Skills is not satisfied with MATH 1111 or higher, students must complete 3 or more credit hours in approved quantitative methods courses from the list list below with a grade of “C”(2.0) or higher:
Additional Science or Social Sciences Course(s) (3-6 Hours)
Additional Science or Social Sciences Course(s) from list below (not taken in the IMPACTS core). Select course(s) from the following list (Pre-Med public health majors should complete additional Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and or Physics sequences outlined in the Pre-Med advising section of their handbook. Pharmacy Pre-Med public health majors may complete the Economics course or Human Anatomy and Physiology sequences.):

All BSPH students are required to complete the following courses:
Approved Public Health Related Electives (15 Credit Hours)
Select courses from the following (Pre-Med public health majors should select required pre-med prerequisite courses outlined in the pre-med advising section of their handbook):
Advanced Electives (6 Credit Hours)
Select any 1000-, 2000-, 3000-, or 4000-level courses (6 credit hours)
