Concentration Requirements
Students who wish to major in history and prepare for law school or prestigious J.D.-Ph.D. programs can opt for a pre-law concentration. Students should contact the department’s pre-law advisor for more information about law school admissions.
Area Core IMPACTS and Field of Study area requirements for the Pre-Law Concentration are the same as for the B.A. in History. One or more of the following courses are strongly recommended:
CTW requirement (4 Hours)
Two of the following courses (8 Hours)
African, Asian, Latin American, Middle Eastern, or World History
One course in African, Asian, Latin American, Middle Eastern, or world history.
Additional Courses Area
Students in the pre-law concentration must take an additional 9 hours. At least three credit hours must come from Field 2.
Other courses may be substituted for this requirement by the History pre-law advisor.
Additional courses from departments other than the major must be taken to complete a minimum of 120 hours. The department strongly recommends that majors take the fourth semester of a foreign language (2002 level).
