Media Studies, Minor

The Media Studies minor is designed to introduce students to the important role of media in society. The objective is to support students in developing a critical perspective about media. The Media Studies minor includes courses that enable students to critically analyze media messages and understand how these messages impact and shape society.

Students who wish to minor in Media Studies must complete 15 hours of coursework as described below.

Minor Requirements (15 hours)

A grade of C or higher is required in all courses counting toward the minor.

Required Courses (6 hours)

JOUR 1000 - Introduction to Mass Communication 3 Credit Hours
JOUR 2500 - Foundations of Media Research 3 Credit Hours

Elective Courses (9 hours)

Choose 3 courses from the following list to complete 15 hours:
