Studio, B.F.A. - Interior Design Concentration


Area G: Major Courses (60 Credit Hours)


The following courses are required in Area G for students who wish to pursue the Interior Design concentration. Interior Design courses should be taken in the order listed below. Interior Design course work should begin fall semester of the sophomore year. Additional information about the Interior Design program is available in the School of Art & Design. ART 4980 , Special Problems (1-6), may be used to adjust program in order to meet the 60-hour requirement in Area G. Consent of the Area Coordinator and instructor required. Students who are not enrolled in Interior Design courses for more than one semester, during the junior or senior sequences, are required to resubmit an entrance portfolio for review and acceptance.

Students pursuing a degree in Interior Design are advised that the educational requirements vary in each state regarding the profession of interior designer.

In order to graduate, students must have taken the CTW course required for this concentration (ID 3910 ). This course should be taken at the appropriate time, as described below.

Select one 4000-level Art History and one 3000-level Studio Elective, or Select two Studio Electives. Interior Design studios listed below are recommended and may be repeated for a maximum of six credit hours.

Upper level ID Students Elective Options


Upper level ID students should discuss elective options with their assigned ID Area Coordinator to plan and schedule adequate and appropriate electives (9) to meet total 60-hour requirement in Area G. Limited electives outside of the School of Art & Design may be approved when relevant to a student’s specific thesis objectives in their senior year.
