Goals and Learning Outcomes
Graduates with a BIS in Biomedical Science and Enterprise will achieve the following learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate conceptual knowledge and critical thinking skills gained through a broad core curriculum and progressing to a focused advanced course sequence in life sciences, entrepreneurship, and pre-law.
- Acquire and apply professional skills anchored in basic scientific research, innovation and value creation, ethics, and legal affairs, including scientific and business communication, collaboration, and leadership.
- Identify needs and opportunities at the intersection between basic science, clinical applications, and patient care.
- Use current methods and theoretical approaches to formulate and answer experimental questions related to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders and diseases.

Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (B.I.S.) in Biomedical Science and Enterprise offers both a Standard and a Pre-Med track. Degree requirements for both tracks are outlined in this section of the catalog. Students majoring in Biomedical Science and Enterprise are not required to declare a minor, but may do so if interested. Students majoring in Biomedical Science and Enterprise may need to take additional courses as electives to complete a minimum of 120 total hours. Georgia State University also mandates that minimum of 39 credit hours at the 3000-level or higher must be completed to graduate. Students are strongly encouraged to choose electives in related disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Entrepreneurship, History, Legal Studies, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, etc. Below is a list of recommended courses for both the Standard and Pre-Med tracks. Students may also contact the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences with questions or for more suggestions. Honors Programming
In addition to the standard Area F and Area G requirements, students in the Honors College are required to take HON 1000. It is strongly recommended to take HON 4780 Honors Thesis: Research as the experiential component of this BIS degree, followed by HON 4880 - Honors Thesis: Writing as an elective. HON 3260 - Honors Topics Interdisciplinary Seminar is also encouraged. Students should take honors sections of courses when offered.
