Transfer and Transition Exploratory Nursing Requirements
Admission Requirements
To remain eligible for the Exploratory Nursing pathway upon acceptance to the university, all transfer and transition Exploratory Nursing students must meet the following minimum requirements:

Overall GPA
- Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, including all Georgia State University and transfer coursework.

Minimum Grade Requirements
Students must earn a grade of B or higher in each of the following courses:
- ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102
- MATH 1111, MATH 1001, or a higher‑level mathematics course
- MATH 1401
- BIOL 1103/1103L or BIOL 1104/1104L (or higher)
- CHEM 1151/1151L and CHEM 1152/1152L (or higher)
- PHYS 1111/1111L or PHYS 1112/1112L (or higher)
- BIOL 2260/2260L
- BIOL 2251/2251L
- BIOL 2252/2252L

Course Attempts
- The courses listed above may not be repeated for the purpose of gaining entry into the nursing program.

Noncompliance
- Students who do not meet the above requirements will be recommended for another major within the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions (Lewis College) or moved to the Exploratory major in University College, where they will work with a Transfer and Transition Advisor in the Transfer and Transition Center.
Additional GPA Review for Students with 60 or More Credit Hours
Transfer or transition Exploratory Nursing students entering the university with 60 or more credit hours and an overall GPA below 3.0 will be recommended for another major within Lewis College or moved to the Exploratory major in University College. Students reassigned to University College will work with a Transfer and Transition Advisor in the Transfer and Transition Center.
Second‑Degree Students
Students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree in another discipline and do not have a 3.0 overall GPA will be reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis by the Transfer and Transition Center at the time of acceptance.

Institutional Priority
It is suggested that nursing majors take PHIL 1010 as one of the two required courses, as critical thinking skills are a vital part of the nursing profession. Arts, Humanities & Ethics
It is suggested that nursing majors take SPAN 1002 as one of the two required courses. Political Science: US and Georgia History & Constitution and Social Science
It is recommended that nursing majors take PSYC 1101 as the social science foundations selection. Courses Related to the Program of Study (18 Hours)
Total Program Hours Required: A Minimum of 120 Semester Hours
