Students majoring in IDS-Biomedical Science and Enterprise are not required to declare a minor, but may do so if interested.
Students majoring in IDS-Biomedical Science and Enterprise may need to take additional elective courses to complete a minimum of 120 total hours. Georgia State University also mandates that minimum of 30 credit hours at any level must be taken institutionally to graduate. Students are strongly encouraged to choose electives in related disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Entrepreneurship, History, Legal Studies, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, etc. Below is a list of required and/or recommended courses for the program.

BMSC Course Attempt Limits
Beginning Fall 2024, all students, regardless of their major or catalog term, are limited to a total of 2 attempts at BMSC 2100 (Careers in Biomedical Science) and 2 attempts at BMSC 4310 (Scientific Communication), for a maximum of 6 credits and 6 credits respectively. Attempts at either course prior to Fall 2024 will not count towards the attempt limits. Both courses are required for the BIS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Biomedical Science and Enterprise. Both courses also serve as prerequisites for other courses and grades of C or higher are required for degree progression. Failure to earn a grade of C or higher in either course after a second attempt could necessitate a change of major.
