PT 8934 - Special Topics: EKG

Prerequisites: Entry into the PT program and successful completion of all prior DPT courses.
Description
This course presents a study of basic electrocardiography (EKG). Cardiac anatomy and physiology, genesis of the 12-lead EKG, determination of heart rate from EKG and modulation of HR by autonomic nervous system, analysis of normal and aberrant rhythms and conduction patterns, electrical axis, cardiac hypertrophy, and ischemina/infarct patterns are included in the content. A programmed learning, method-based approach is used to give students stools necessary to interpret EKG’s.
