PHPB 7425 - Foundations of Maternal and Child Health

3 Credit Hours
Description
The goal of this course is to provide graduate students with an overview of the biological, social and environmental determinants of maternal and child health. A life course orientation will be used to provide a cohesive framework for understanding the complex social, environmental, and biological contributions to maternal and child health. A broad range of topics will be introduced to provide students with knowledge about the domestic and global challenges that affect women, infants, children and families. These challenges will be viewed in terms of their adverse health consequences. Additionally, we will focus on examples of evidence-based interventions for protecting health and reducing harm.
