EPSF 7500 - Understanding Minority Serving Institutions

Description
This course examines universities as minority serving institutions (historically Black colleges and universities, Tribal colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, and Asian-serving institutions), all of which play an important but often under-examined role in American higher education. The course will emphasize the development and evolution of such institutions from both a historic and contemporary perspective. Students will learn to characterize minority-serving institutions based on their student populations, funding schemes, politics, and other relevant issues.
