POLS 8480 - Transitional Justice and the Politics of Memory

The course will provide a philosophical and theoretical framework for thinking about memory and transitional justice. It focuses on specific transitional justice institutions such as the Nuremberg Trials, the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, the International Criminal Court, as well as selected domestic and hybrid trials and truth commissions in many regions of the world.
