PHPH 7010 - Foundations of Public Health

This course provides an understanding of public health history, philosophy, values, concepts, functions, and dynamics, ensuring that all students are grounded in foundational public health knowledge. The course allows graduate students to understand what public health is, how public health functions and what it does to fulfill its mission. The course will illustrate the contemporary challenges facing public health, dynamics of the U.S. public health system, and factors that influence population health.
