This class is an investigative exploration into religion’s impact on rape culture in the context of the United States, both historically and presently. The class focuses on Christianity’s historical impact on rape culture but also engages other religions and their sacred texts. This class uses an intersectional approach to understand contemporary rape culture, focusing on religion, social media, and pop culture. It will explore case studies and their impact on rape culture considering social media’s influence as applicable.
