PHIL 3410 - Philosophy of Gaming

3 Credit Hours

Description
This course will explore philosophical questions about the nature of games. Possible themes include what makes something a game; the role of rules and narrative in gameplay; how the experience of gaming is shaped by designers, players, and communities; how games can shape us in particular ways; and the aesthetic, social, and ideological functions of games. As appropriate, we will also play and discuss games together. The course aims to develop ways of critically analyzing games in their full complexity.
