GERO 4300 - Technology and Aging

Description
This course will explore the relationship between technology and aging, within the field of Gerontology. The course will exam emerging technologies and the impact of technological advancements on the lives of older adults, addressing opportunities and challenges. Students will be challenged to look at technological innovations, designs, and opportunities for intervention to address the needs of the older population. The course will exam normal aging process (biological, psychological, and social) and age-related disease and what technological needs these may pose for the older population. Key areas of focus include the digital divide, the role of technology to support-aging in place, assistive devices, telehealth, and other areas of technology that support older adults.
