(Same as AAS 3810). (Same as AAS 3810.) Musical and sociological survey of the origins and development of African-American music from its beginnings in Africa to its enculturation into the music of the Americas. Black folk music, blues, jazz, popular, religious, classical Black tradition, and performance practices will be discussed.
