PHPH 4300 - Introduction to Controversies in Public Health

Pre/Corequisites: Prerequisites: PHPB 2000.
Description
The course will explore contemporary problems in public health and U.S. society that result in controversy. The course will examine what makes something controversial, how public health issues within controversies are identify and analyzed, how controversy affects public health systems, implications for public health practice, and how to improve health literacy of the public about controversy. Through review and discussion of case studies, students will develop skills in research, analysis, public health policy, and risk communication
