Description
This course studies the history, development, and current status of Spanish in the United States. Given the repercussions of languages in contact, we will examine diglossia, bilingualism, linguistic identity, language planning & policy, standardization, and the linguistic implications of the presence of Spanish as a heritage language in the United States.
