Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at Georgia State University contributes to the University’s broader mission of encouraging critical thinking through a focus on feminist interdisciplinary scholarship, teaching, and community participation. The Institute promotes research on gender, sex, sexuality, feminism, womanism, and their many intersections; fosters intellectual curiosity and transformative, critical thinking in global contexts; and empowers scholars, students, and activists in creative work for freedom and justice. WGSS emphasizes the following areas of study: Sexualities, Queer and Trans Studies, Black Feminist Thought, Transnational Feminisms, and Social Change.
