Ph.D. Coursework (48 Hours)

Research Training Course

A research training course which must be taken in the first semester.

CSC 9900 - Seminar in Computer Science 1 Credit Hours

Core Coursework (12 Hours)

Take three courses from the following two groups, with at least one from each group:

Qualifying Process

Same as in regular Ph.D. requirements .

Dissertation Committee

Same as in regular Ph.D. requirements except one member must be a biologist or chemist.

Candidacy Examination

Same as in regular Ph.D. requirements .

Dissertation

Research should involve a current topic in bioinformatics.

CSC 9999 - Doctoral Dissertation Research 1 to 20 Credit Hours (minimum of 24 hours)

Written Dissertation and Oral Defense.

Graduate Assistants Requirements

Graduate assistants are required to register for a minimum of 20 credit hours per semester. These hours will consist of the required courses outlined in the prescribed program of study, as well as one hour of CSC 8920 (if necessary), and additional hours of CSC 9999, 8981 and/or 8982.

CSC 8920 - Computer Science Teaching Pedagogy 2 Credit Hours
CSC 9999 - Doctoral Dissertation Research 1 to 20 Credit Hours
CSC 8981 - Research in Computer Science 1 to 15 Credit Hours and/or
