The STEM Education Certificate will provide students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of science, mathematics, and computer science content that will aid in implementing standards-based curricula. It will introduce students to an integrated curriculum as it relates to teaching in middle and secondary contexts.
Students will be able to
- Demonstrate proficiency in standards-based curriculum with content across STEM disciplines.
- Deepen their understanding of learners from diverse backgrounds by exploring issues of equity in the STEM classroom.
- Engage in advanced content courses to strengthen STEM content knowledge and broaden pedagogical practices.
- Expand knowledge in content areas through action research and community-engaged scholarship
Successful completion of STEM 7080, STEM 7910, and STEM 8430 qualifies an individual for the STEM Education Endorsement.
