Journalism, Minor

Minor Requirements

A grade of C or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. 

Journalism minors may attempt JOUR 1000 and JOUR 1010 a maximum of two times at GSU. 

• W grades do not count as an attempt.

• ‘WF’ grades count as an attempt.

Students are required to take the following two courses (6 credit hours)

• JOUR 1000 - Introduction to Mass Communication 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 1010 - Introduction to Media Writing 3 Credit Hours

After minor requirements are met:

• Required course - 3 credit hours

• JOUR 3010 - Advanced Media Writing-CTW 3 Credit Hours

Electives - Choose 2 courses from the following list to complete 15 credit hours

• JOUR 3060 - Communication Law and Regulation 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 3500 - Public Relations Techniques 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 3560 - Public Relations Writing and Projects-CTW 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 3900 - Digital Journalism 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 4120 - Feature Writing 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 4180 - Editorial and Critical Writing 3 Credit Hours
• JOUR 4610 - Applied Graphic Communication 3 Credit Hours
