The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences offers students a career-oriented range of skills and knowledge. This includes understanding the typical development of speech, language, and communication across the lifespan, the anatomy and physiology involved in speech production, swallowing, and hearing, as well as an introduction to various speech, language, and communication disorders, and the basic principles of assessment and intervention.

This program’s mission is to support GSU undergraduate students in progressing toward a career in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and/or Audiology by taking courses that are pre-requisite to applying for and enrolling in a master’s program.

For students whose goal is to apply for a graduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), please note that, even though these programs typically have similar admission requirements, they may vary slightly among programs. Students should research the admission requirements for the specific graduate programs to which they plan to apply.

Clinical observation hours

Students are encouraged to obtain up to 25 hours of clinical observation experience to strengthen their graduate school application. This document provides specific guidelines for obtaining and documenting clinical observation hours.

For documentation purposes, students can use this form to log their observation hours.
