Nursing is an art and a science. It is the art of knowing how to balance knowledge and compassion to give holistic care to individuals, families, groups and communities. As a science, nursing requires a wealth of knowledge and critical-thinking skills necessary to provide safe, effective, culturally competent medical care.
The Nursing Program is a career-focused program that leads to an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree. The program is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination to become licensed as Registered Nurses (RNs). While the curriculum is designed for immediate entry into the workforce, students who wish to continue their education may transfer credits to a variety of higher education institutions.
The program offers two educational pathways. The Traditional ASN Track is a 71-credit-hour program designed for individuals entering nursing without prior licensure. The LPN/Paramedic/Military Medic to RN Track, a 63-credit-hour program, is designed for licensed practical nurses (LPNs), paramedics, and military medics seeking to advance to the RN level. This option provides an efficient pathway to earn the ASN degree while building on existing clinical knowledge and skills
