Veterans using Chapter 31 (Veteran Readiness and Employment) and Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI BILL) are required to submit to the Office of the Registrar before the first day of the semester
- a Certificate of eligibility or statement of benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs; or
- a Chapter 31 approval certificate from the Office of Veteran Readiness and Employment
Georgia State University will not impose any penalties, such as, cancellation of registration, denied access to classes, libraries or other institutional facilities, or impose any late fees due to the delayed disbursement of funding from the VA under Chapter 31 and Chapter 33, and will not require students to borrow additional funds due to the delayed disbursements.
This coverage ends on the date on which payment from VA is made to Georgia State University, or 90 days after Georgia State University submits certified tuition and fees following the receipt of the certificate of eligibility.
If the covered individual’s eligibility does not cover the entire assessed amount of tuition and fees, the student is responsible for the difference in total tuition and fees and the covered eligibility amount by the posted fee payment deadline.
The first day of classes and fee payment deadline for each term can be found on the academic calendar (registrar.gsu.edu/registration/semester-calendars-exam-schedules/). For information on how to submit a certification of eligibility and other needed documents for processing can be found at https://registrar.gsu.edu/gi-bill-benefits/getting-started-with-your-veterans-gi-bill-benefits/.
