CPS 8431 - Counseling Skills and Strategies for School-Aged Children 3 Hours The focus of this course is on the understanding and application of contemporary theories of counseling for school-aged children and adolescents in individual, small group, and large group counseling settings. This course provides instruction on the stages of change and provides opportunity for case conceptualization and the development of interventions. The physiological, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children as well as their environment (including the school) will be emphasized so that interventions are consistent with the children’s needs.
Prerequisite(s): CPS 7660 , CPS 7661 , CPS 7662 , or CPS 7663 . Corequisite(s): CPS 7680 , CPS 7681 , CPS 7683 , or CPS 8680 . Pre/Corequisite(s): None. Requirements: The minimum grade of “C” is required for passing this course.
