ECE 6391 - Supporting Mathematical Reasoning: Algebra, Geometry and Measurement

Requirements: A minimum grade of “C” is required for this course.

Description
This course will model and examine an investigative approach to elementary mathematics instruction, which is purposeful, inquiry-based, and meaningful mathematics instruction. Focus will be given to the teaching and learning of fraction computation, measurement, geometry, and algebra/functions. Candidates will continue to examine philosophies behind elementary mathematics programs and reflect on the practices that grow out of these viewpoints. The course is centered on researched-based methods; namely, teaching through problem-solving.
