EPHE 8500 - Ethical Issues in Higher Education 3 Credit Hours Description Every course, whether stated explicitly or not, embodies an argument for a certain way of understanding, organizing, and acting on the content of the course. This course is no exception and the argument is outlined below. People tend to think of ethics in higher education as a matter of individual choice and accountability (whether we imagine that choice to be a question of following well-founded rules, imagining and pursuing desirable consequences, or enacting well-formed and defensible virtues [and for some, there is a combination of all three]). Applied to ethics in higher education, this course identifies and considers difficult dilemmas faced by faculty, students, and leaders; challenging those individuals to determine the ethical action and then enact that action.
