HA 8555 - Introduction to Healthcare Financial Management 3 Credit Hours Prerequisites: HA 8160 or HA 8190. Description This course is designed to integrate and apply knowledge, concepts, and methods in financial management to the ongoing operation and planning for healthcare organizations. The course also serves as an introduction to accounting and financial management theory, concepts, and methods as they pertain to healthcare. Students will solve problems and have the opportunity to apply these ideas to some “real-world” healthcare business cases and use spreadsheet analyses to make financial and operational decisions. Topics as they relate to healthcare may include financial condition analysis, cost allocation, pro forma statements, time value and break analysis, financial risk concepts, capital financing and structure decisions, budgeting, project risk assessment, and reimbursement methods.
