Description
This course provides an overview of the student affairs profession. It will introduce students to the historical, ethical, and organizational foundations of the profession, discuss the core theoretical frameworks on students, postsecondary environments, and retention, and survey a number of recurring themes in college student affairs practice such as mental health, social justice, campus sexual assault, Greek life, and working with parents. The course will emphasize both practical and theoretical concerns in student affairs and require students to reflect on their values in relation to those in the field.
