Description
Community colleges are a uniquely American higher education institutions that overwhelmingly serve structurally disadvantaged and underrepresented populations, while playing several critical roles related to access in higher education and state economic development. The course will emphasize the history, societal missions, characteristics, and recurring and emerging issues of community colleges. Students will develop a better understanding of community colleges, finance and governance, the experiences of students, staff, and faculty in this type of institution, and the recurring and emergent issues they face.
