PHPB 9220 - Principles of Health Services Research I: Themes

Description
The objective of this course is to provide advanced public health graduate students with a sufficient background to be conversant in the history and current debate on key themes in contemporary health services research. Completion of the course will provide sufficient background for specialized advanced study in each of the topics covered. The course will primarily consist of lectures followed by critical discussion on selected readings. Topics will include, but not be limited to: healthcare organization and financing, workforce development, population health informatics, access to care, patient safety and quality of care, chronic care management, provider performance management, comparative effectiveness, and health services research management. Readings and class discussions will primarily be organized around theme-related reports from the Institute of Medicine.
