ENGL 8002 - PhD Professional Seminar (Literary Studies)

Description
This course introduces first-year PhD students to the fundamentals of academic writing. Topics will include: applying to conferences, writing abstracts, and presenting conference papers; style, genre, and structural conventions of academic writing; revising essays into article form for submission to journals; expanding research in the field in which they choose to write their dissertation. This course will mix traditional seminar discussion with workshops and guest speakers.
