It will introduce students to an integrated curriculum as it relates to teaching in middle and secondary contexts. Students will be able to
- Demonstrate proficiency in standards-based curriculum with content across STEM disciplines.
- Deepen their understanding of learners from diverse backgrounds by exploring issues of equity in the STEM classroom.
- Engage in advanced content courses to strengthen STEM content knowledge and broaden pedagogical practices.
- Expand knowledge in content areas and engage in action research through a capstone project.
The ultimate goal of the program is to engage teachers in advanced courses that will strengthen their scientific, mathematical, and technological content and broaden their pedagogical practices. In general, the Program of Study is framed by the principles and standards of the Next Generation Science Standards and the core propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
