Additional Admission Requirements
In addition to the general requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics has the following requirements for this concentration: 1. A baccalaureate degree in mathematics, statistics, or its equivalent. 2. Courses in mathematics equivalent to: Degree Requirements
1. A minimum of 30 hours of graduate-level courses (exclusive of MATH 8820 ) selected from the list below are required. A student should take at least four courses from the following foundational courses, with at least one from each of the three categories: Theory, Modeling, and Algorithms. Additional Requirements
2. Take an additional six courses from the foundational courses listed above, from the following courses, or other GSU graduate courses (approved by the graduate director) relevant to applied mathematics. 3. Three hours of Research (MATH 8820 ) 4. A lab or literature-based research paper completed under the direction of a graduate faculty advisor within the department. Additional Admission Requirements

- MATH 6275 - Applied Dynamical Systems 3 Credit Hours
- MATH 6620 - Numerical Analysis II 3 Credit Hours
- MATH 8230 - Topics in Algebra 3 Credit Hours
- MATH 8540 - Advanced Topics in Ordinary Differential Equations and Dynamic Systems 3 Credit Hours
- MATH 8501 - Math Modeling of Epidemiology 3 Credit Hours
- STAT 8540 - Advanced Methodologies in Biostatistics 3 Credit Hours
- STAT 8670 - Computational Methods in Statistics 3 Credit Hours
3. At least six hours of Thesis Research (MATH 8999 ) 4. A Thesis completed under the direction of a graduate faculty advisor within the department 5. Thesis defense |
