Disruptive Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate

The Disruptive Innovation and Entrepreneurship certificate is a 12 credit hour certificate that introduces concepts and methods to create and take innovative solutions from ideas to commercialization in a startup venture, fast-growing business or established organization undergoing rapid transformation. Prerequisites for the certificate include a bachelor’s degree or higher.

The certificate is designed to provide students with an understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship processes and tools that stimulate creative thinking and can be applied to develop deployable solutions to business challenges or create new products, services or companies. Exposure to advanced technologies that are converging to transform businesses and entire industries are integrated throughout the courses.

The Innovation Studios allow students to leverage content from their subject matter courses and form interdisciplinary teams, promoting diversity of thought and allowing for a collision of ideas and concepts. Within the teams, students will learn to design compelling and competitive value propositions, develop viable business models that can profitably fulfill these value propositions, and pitch to prospective customers and investors. ENI 8010 - Innovation Studio 1: Innovation and Design Thinking will focus on areas such as ideation and problem solving, the business model canvas and customer discovery. Students selecting ENI 8011 - Innovation Studio 2: Launch and Scale will continue working on their prototype, diving deeper into new product development and refining their business models and pitches.

The certificate can be completed in 2 or 3 semesters depending on the options selected. The certificate can be taken either stand-alone or students may apply credits to Robinson’s MBA program or other select graduate degree programs.

Certificate Applications and Fees. Applicants will apply to the same online application as graduate applicants at gradapply.gsu.edu/apply. Proposed tuition and fees will be $15,000 for in-state residents and $25,000 for out-of-state residents.

Certificate Requirements


The Certificate in Disruptive Innovation and Entrepreneurship will consist of 12 hours of graduate credits. Nine hours are required courses, and students can select the remaining hours from a prescribed list of additional courses. The certificate, based on the completion of courses with an overall “B” average or higher, will be awarded upon completion of the 12 credit hours.
