Description
This course introduces and describes the U.S. health care system, addressing its components and complexities. The historical basis for the system’s organization will be discussed, contextualized within a social determinants of health framework, as well as various modes of health care delivery and the ways health care is organized, financed and delivered in the United States. In addition to presenting the foundations of health care organization, the course will include an overview of health care delivery, health insurance, health care finance and purchasing, and current challenges to the system.
