OT 8290 - Neuroscience- Assessing Human Performance 4 Credit Hours Prerequisites: OT8120, OT8130, OT8140, OT8160 Description This course, including lecture and lab sections, introduces students to the basic neuroanatomical structures and neurophysiological functions to build their foundational knowledge needed in occupational therapy. The course content is divided into four modules covering from the cellular level of the nervous system to different systems (e.g., autonomic nervous system, somatosensory system, motor system) and the higher-level neural functions (e.g., language, memory, emotion). Students will be asked to focus on pathophysiology and clinical manifestations, along with prevention in occupational therapy. Students will also have hands-on experience for a variety of assessments and diagnostic procedures to establish the knowledge and skills needed in occupational therapy.
